Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was a child prodigy. This was a very natural trait for a girl from Irish origin, and who was nurtured in the beginning by gifted family members and parents. Maureen came to this loving haven, August 17, 1920. Her family was the family of her parents. Marguerita Lu. FitzSimons made a name for herself with her contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland, and also ran the Shamrock Rovers soccer club and a Dublin business. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was a star athlete and was a lover of rough play. Her natural ability to perform perfectly complemented her interest in sports. Her winning of almost all Feis awards for her native country's theater and drama proved this. At the age of 14, she was accepted to the prestigious Abbey Theater and pursued her goal of performing in classical theatre and operatic singing.
